Hahaha😆😆😆.....not for sure in daytime..there is also a church very near...you can reach within 30 sec for safety if you don't enjoy to have dinner with a ghost 👻
Lol, only means of income she has
Double Eagle is open on Thanksgiving and Christmas day with our Grand Champagne Buffet. Thanksgiving menu, price and hours will be posted soon.
Not required but highly recommended as seats are scarce during peak hours without a reservation. If you're in a pinch/ can't wait you could eat at Peppers (same location, different seating areas) without a reservation and generally short wait times.
Can't understand you, but watch out for nicely dressed older lady who makes conversation and then wants you to buy her meal
Well the jalapenos haunted me most of the night but no the building is not
I've never seen them
I'm sure they'll announce something like this when it's closer to Halloween, I'm sure they'll post it on their website though.
The story is fact. The matron of the house caught her son with one of the maids and lunged to kill the maid, trying to stab her with a pair of scissors. The son got in the middle to protect the maid and his mother accidentally stabbed him instead. Whether it's haunted, that depends on who you ask. Many people believe it is.
About 50 years ago, Robert O Anderson of Roswell bought a number of older buildings 5and turned them into restaurants with similar antique/turn of the century décor/looks. About 47 years ago, he started selling them off to other owners. Double Eagle and the Silver Dollar were 2 of those restaurants.
I’m sad to say that although this place may seem high end and all, what happens behind in the kitchen is the opposite. After anonymously interviewing many of their staff it came to my awareness that for many months their freezer was broken and the meat they were serving was moist and not maintain at adequate temperatures. In addition, they do not pass their health inspections, just look on their door before entering. I won’t be coming back to this restaurant, plus it’s overly price for the quality of food. For those of you that do continue to come, I ask you to be cautious.
Overall I had a very negative experience here. Our waitress would take 10-15+ minutes to deliver drinks, attempted to overcharge my friend for a side of guacamole (charged $10 when the menu stated $3), and a few days later when I checked my bank account, I discovered they altered my tip. I thankfully kept my receipt but my bill was $10.82 and I tipped $2. However I was charged $15. At the end of the day, it's a few dollars but it's clear that they are shady and unethical to customers and don't have anyone checking tips at the end of the night to make sure their waitresses aren't stealing. I would recommend either not coming here, or paying in cash.
Great atmosphere, great food and service
Great food and service!! My husband and I went in for a late brunch on a busy day. We were promptly seated and served. Great places to sit.
GREAT food, especially the steaks. They tend to favor the rarer side. It's expensive, but worth it.
Food and drinks are great but the guy that was working in the front just gives straight disrespect to my fiancé. Should learn how to properly show respect to people coming to a establishment you work at.
There are several good places to eat in Mesilla. Don’t choose this one. I went because they advertised an Alfredo out front. Once seated I was informed that it was out. I ordered Steak Pepe, I was brought a taco plate. I should have kept it because when mine came it had raw hamburger in the center. There was no offer made to correct any of this.
The building is absolutely breathtaking, and the history is so exciting!
Good food, beautiful restaurant, great margaritas, nice after dinner coffee in the bar. A very enjoyable evening. Also, very good service.
My family and two others waited for at least five minutes for the hostess to even appear. Then when the first family asked for a table for 5, she said she had to check the availability and walked away. At that point my family and I left and ended up at Don Felix Cafe down the street. One of the families behind us eventually joined us at Don Felix; apparently the speed of service did not improve after we left.
The service was great and funny, it's definitely haunted and fun to dine at if your feeling spooky or want to experience the paranormal. We rented out the most haunted room for my birthday, the food was delicious and looked amazing before we finished the lights and atmosphere changed, it felt colder and the lights flickered which spiked the mood for me.Overall it's a great place, some food is pricey but it's worth the price.
Love this place! Always beautiful and comfortable atmosphere in the atrium for lunch. Friendly staff, always accommodating
Super friendly staff and $5 margherita for happy hour! The decor is amazing!
This place had excellent margaritas. I also had the green chile burger, which was very good. Beautiful historic building. Lots of people seemed to be there due to their interest in the ghost stories. Will come again the next time I'm in town!
The place is nice the history was great to hear and for that I give it a 2 star. The service, bar tender and food was way below average. Paid 75 dollars today to get horrible service and food that seems like it comes from Walmarts freezer section. Bar tender seemed like she was annoyed when she sat us. Didn’t even say anything just put the menus all on one side and walked away. Waited 6-8 minutes for our server to come to our table. Ordered a margarita and didn’t get it till 13 minutes later took another 5 or so minutes to get our velveeta cheese (queso). The table next to us sent a plate back. Walked the restaurant to see beauty in it. To bad their service or food isn’t good cause this place can be amazing. First and last time going. I will not give this place a second chance.
Unless you’re a local who is known by the staff, do not try to dine in the bar, especially if you’re solo. I sat there at a small table for 10 minutes while other people, known to the staff, came in and were served. Fortunately, an astute waiter recognized my predicament and recommended that I eat in one of the dining rooms. So, I did. I chose the Double Eagle dining room. Service was good and the food was delicious and well prepared. Servers are great, support staff could use some training. The meal was prepared with care and pride and was delicious. The creme brûlée was more like flan but had a pleasant surprise and the coffee was good. I really needed some TLC tonight but was overall disappointed.
Great service, great food, great ambiance
Love this place! Great food, beauty beyond belief is everywhere you look, and it's in Old Mesilla! Can't ask for more
My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our Anniversay dinner last night. Exquisite service & food. Thank you
We've enjoyed Sunday champagne brunch here many times but this was our first time trying the Thanksgiving menu. Food was lovely and the historic ambiance makes it feel very special. We also love dining at Peppers (the restaurant-within-a-restaurant) for a more casual but totally delicious menu with great service and a tropical indoor/outdoor feel!
BANG!! What an amazing oasis in the Southeast corner of New Mexico! The Double Eagle is worth the drive. We ordered Chateaubriand table-side and it was excellent. Make sure you ask for “Fine Dining” so they will seat you in their most luxurious room with vintage chandeliers and oversized gold mirrors and the balance of the decor is spectacular! The music was perfect the wine was perfect!
Always a great place to enjoy ambiance and good food. Local landmark. Reliably good food and service! Special occasion? They've got that covered too!
Extremely beautiful and historic building. I took the family out to eat for brunch in late December, there was nine of us. The food was excellent and service was great. After I left I noticed I was over charged a few people, I called and spoke with the GM and he was very helpful in refunding the extra people. I’m not sure if they’re still doing the buffet brunch but is was very good!
The atmosphere is outdated by about 40 years. It smells weird and is very stuffy. The food buffet is subpar and very bland. Soggy, undercooked bacon. I think their deserts came from the freezer section at a dollar store. They taste like cardboard. There is no flow for the buffet, so you just keep running into people. Every other plate is dirty. We had little bugs on the table butter plate. $30 per person was $30 too much for their buffet.
Poor service, had to ask several times for specific items. Salad was stale, avocado was the dark over ripe scraping from the bottom of the barrel. Never eat here & how I remember why ....
The establishment is beautiful. The bartender seemed like she was smelling dirty diapers the whole time, or wearing one. Really unpleasant, unwelcoming, and inattentive. She also charged us full price for the tapas during happy hour when they were suppose to be half price. The food wasn’t good; the Baja Shrimp cocktail had ice berg lettuce pieces floating around in the juice and the calamari was undercooked. WE GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THIS PLACE!!! (Edited after the fact...)
Not great today wish the cooks could stay consistent with the quality of food they serve. Been here plenty of times food usually good but past couple months now, very disappointed I hope it doesnt become a place you go to have a few drinks but not eat because of the inconsistency.
I was going to eat there but they where closed there was a lady outside selling scissors told here not looking for scissors looking to eat very strange lady but anyway
The food was Amazing and so was the service, you could feel the history of the building. Loved it.
They were very accommodating for our group of about 60 people, food was good, cheese cake was great!
Service was fine. salad was stale and old and inedible. Won’t return.
I’ve eaten here a few times with my girlfriend and each time has not been very good at least not for the price, I’d prefer chillis or Applebee’s over this restraunt tbh I only went back just to give them the benefit of the doubt and give a chance but every time the food just has no flavor ...
Beautiful restaurant with good food and awesome service
Food looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. The lettuce was wilted. The chicken, rice, and beans were dry. Our waitress was very nice. When we told her about our food she quickly told the manager. The manager on the other hand walked right passed our table and didn't bother to stop by and offer his apology or offer to get us something else.
Great place for Weekend Brunch.Elegant setting in a hacienda type of place. Brunch had s good selection .Desert menu was our favorite. Chocolate fountain had a good selection of dipping ingredients. Mimosas were a little weak,But not a bad thing.Great staff and beautiful dining rooms.
This is a must-visit spot if you are exploring Mesilla! The drinks were excellent, service was fast and courteous and the food was great. I highly recommend it!
Awesome dining experience. The Salmon was delicious and my server Stephanie was excellent. I never had to wait or ask for anything. Very attentive and polite. She even showed me around the historic restaurant after my meal and filled me in on the history of the building. Don't pass this place up when visiting Mesilla. Many thanks!
The place was nice but the food was terrible we order steak and they gave us a hamburger patties. What type of steak is ground beef. Never going again.
We had a wonderful meal food was excellent. Our waitress Lizzie made our experience the best. Her witty remarks and fun banter with all of us made it a great evening out with friends.
Five star restaurant and has great food. LOOVE THAT BAR, they told me that the surface of the bar is made from the floor from Deming High School! Why Deming?!?! Highly recommend this place!
If you’re passing by Old Mesilla don’t eat here if you wish not to be disappointed. I’m Sad to say that although this place is very unique in style and antique the food was terrible. The presentation of the food is sloppy and the flavor is nothing wow. We had the chile rellenos that looked like two long egg rolls, zero flavor the beans were dry and the rice was soggy. The beef fajitas were hard and chewey not cooked right brought to us still bloody nothing special and once again no flavor. HARD PASS!
Went for a lunch meeting and service was great and food was good. Alot of rooms to eat in with unique furnishing. Can't wait to go back!
My first visit, a birthday luncheon. Started with a drink at the high end bar. From the simple to the exotic, they had all the liquor options you could want. Cost appropriate of course, but great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. Had a simple cheeseburger and fries. It was anything but simple. Obviously well aged beef, flavorful, cooked exactly to order and so much beef, a good 16 oz.. Beer, cold and fresh. So full I skipped desert.
The friends and I showed up about 1230pm.The restaurant had a party that had just left, and we ordered from the Pepper menu (dinner). All the food was dried out to the point none of us could eat it. It took over 30 mins for the appetizer to even come out. The reason I give 4 stars is because we did order dinner right after breakfast while everyone was still on the breakfast menu, so I can understand that's probably why our meals took so long. And also because the party that just left they were probably a little unprepared for such a busy day on top of the party already.Service was respectful and everyone smiled.I will probably go back to give this place another go.
We had very good service, good drinks, wonderful food, and a good time watching them prepare Bananas Foster with flambe at the table. Our waiter then gave us a personal tour of the historic old building. Then a short walk around Mesilla Plaza. A memorable evening. Remember, you might need reservations.
A very quiet pleasant clean dinner out!
Great cocktails the food prices are a bit out of my league.
We went to the bar and got snacks and drinks. Drinks were tourist prices, but were very good. Margueritas were sweet. Service was prompt. Chairs at bar were rickety. Deco was cool.
A although I appreciate the varied menu on the buffet for Thanksgiving it was lacking a bit. It was disappointing that there was no actual pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving day. The pumpkin cake was just okay and way too sweet. A good thing was that there were mashed potatoes and delicious sweet potatoes whereas in years before those traditional dishes were left out for other less traditional options. Also pardon me if I am incorrect, but the carved meats were served cold and it is my impression that these should be served warmed.
Wow! What an amazing antique establishment!! When you walk in you feel like you walked into a time capsule of some sort. I loved the atmosphere here...with that being said...that is exactly what you are paying for...(not saying that's not worth it) but once we were seated in the double eagle I jokingly noticed that the salt shakers were significantly less full then the pepper and our table and the surrounding tables...which said to me the food wasnt very tasteful. The menu selection was unique and it was hard to decide! I got a the wedge salad and stack of onion rings...husband got a steak with twice baked potato. I didnt have much of an appetite but enjoyed my onion rings the next day at home and they were yummy yum! My husband wasnt impressed with his steak but the potato and lobster mac and cheese was enjoyable. If we didn't have other plans I would have loved to try dessert.
